Welcome to Del Mar Mesa

 

del-mar-mesa-homeDel Mar Mesa is a semi-rural residential community of 2,042 acres residential community located in northern San Diego, California. It is in the 92130 zip code, located approximately 4 miles east of the world-renowned Del Mar Beach.

 

Del Mar Mesa is bordered: to the north by Carmel Valley and Pacific Highlands Ranch; to the south by Los Peñasquitos Canyon; to the east by Torrey Highlands and Rancho Peñasquitos and; and to the west by Torrey Hills. State Route 56 (Ted Williams Freeway) is slightly north of this community. In the eastern part of the community, a large portion of land is conserved for open space under the City’s Multiple Species Conservation Program. Eucalyptus groves in the community were planted around farmsteads in the 1800s.

 

Del Mar Mesa is considered as the home of gnatcatcher bird, an endangered and protected wildlife species. Because of this, the residents, as well as the government of Del Mar Mesa, decided to have the SR-56 rerouted in order to preserve the natural habitat of the gnatcatcher bird

 

Attractions worth visiting in Del Mar Mesa

 

Del Mar Mesa is undoubtedly a gem mixed with a residential and semi-rural community of estate sized homes injected with a touch of nature. The residents of Del Mar Mesa didn’t fail to preserve several horse ranches that are built in the area. Aside from the old horse ranches, you can also enjoy the beautiful and prestigious Fairmont Grand Del Mar. It is a 249-room Manchester-style resort with an area of over 380 acres. The Grand Del Mar resembles an old-world Mediterranean estate with a luxurious Tom Fazio-designed golf course, Addison Restaurant that serves sumptuous meals suitable for a royalty, a 21,000 sqft spa with the best beauty products for both men and women, magnificent villas, and a Grand Ballroom. In addition, the Grand Del Mar takes pride with the very exclusive enclaves such as the Duck Pond Ranch which are gated, and the Preserve that is surrounded by an open space with unobstructed 360° views.

 

If you want to explore the beauty behind Del Mar Mesa, you can also enjoy the groves filled with majestic sycamore trees, a forest of giant California live oaks located in a stream, and a volcanic rock that makes cascading waterfalls.

 

Del Mar Mesa’s development

 

The large majority of Del Mar Mesa’s development was done in the year 2000. Up until now, the whole region is still being developed into a comfortable place to live in. There are numerous large custom and semi-custom homes, sprawling equestrian properties, The Fairmont Grand Del Mar Resort with a member’s only golf-course, split-rail fences that border horse and hiking trails, and designated open space areas. Over 900 acres is preserved open space protected habitat. The community also has 10 miles of hiking, biking and riding trails. Minimum lot size is half acre.

 

There are several different residential luxury neighborhoods in Del Mar Mesa including Bougainvillea, Del Mar Mesa, Duck Pond Ranch, Meadows Del Mar, Paso Fino, The Preserve, The Ridge, Silver Oaks Estates, Three Canyons, Valencia Collection, White Horse and Alta Del Mar.  Many homes have extra large lots and sweeping views of the canyons and the Pacific Ocean.

 

Historical Del Mar Mesa

 

A number of artifacts, such as potteries, which are believed to date back from 9,000 to 10,000 years ago, were found in this community. These artifacts are being studied by the San Diego Archaeological Center. The eastern part of the Del Mar Mesa is conserved for open space under the City’s Multiple Species Conservation Program. The eucalyptus groves in the community were planted around farmsteads in the 1800s. According to history, the earlier inhabitants and communities developed in Del Mar Mesa include the La Jolla and subsequent Ipai people. In connection with this, the earlier inhabitants are said to leave cultural artifacts within the Carmel Valley. In order to preserve yet develop the artifacts and natural resources of Del Mar Mesa, the government ensures that the developers and agents are following the specific rules and regulations on lot sizes, fencing, lighting and street design.

 

As for local public schools, Del Mar Mesa residents are apart of the Del Mar Union and San Dieguito Union High School Districts.
